The Multi-Hazard Vulnerability Database relies on the contribution of our academic partners.  We are deeply grateful to them for their continued partnership and commitment in making this community a lively place for data and research exchange.

MVDat hosts harmonised fragility functions, vulnerability functions, vulnerability indices, and data-to-loss functions. The descriptive analytics used to characterise the functions are compatible with the GEM4ALL taxonomy and with the ThinkHazard Intensity Measure standards. All data published in MVDat have either been published under the terms of an open license or permission for circulation has been sought from the authors by the service provider.

Assets: People, crops, residential buildings, industrial warehouses, commercial properties, schools and hospitals, and key components of water, electricity, gas, telecommunications, and transportation networks.

Hazards: Strong winds, earthquakes, riverine floods, storm surge, landslides, tsunami, drought and volcanic ash.

The data are verified by the EPICentre researchers to avoid duplication, erroneous input of data, and for the attribution of the scoring. The data standardisation, the use of descriptive analytics (i.e., statistics), and the quality scoring increase the usability and usefulness of the data.
